How to Apply

Training Program Eligibility & Application

The PDD-TP will be recruiting eligible students from the following graduate programs:
  • Biological Sciences (College of Science)
  • Biochemistry (College of Agriculture)
  • Chemistry (College of Science)
  • Industrial & Physical Pharmacy (College of Pharmacy)
  • Medicinal Chemistry & Molecular Pharmacology (College of Pharmacy)
  • Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (PULSe) Graduate Program
Eligible students will be able to apply for an NIH-supported traineeship near the end of their first year (second year for PULSe students). Applicants need to meet the following criteria:
  • US citizenship or permanent residency status
  • Good academic standing within primary graduate program
  • Graduate thesis adviser willing to serve as PDD-TP mentor (see list of currently active mentors). 

Interested applicants are also encouraged to review the curricular requirements and list of approved elective courses associated with the PDD-TP.

PDD-TP applicants will be asked to submit a personal statement, an official Purdue transcript, and a 1-page proposal describing their research plus a 3-month embedding experience in the laboratory of a collaborating PI, for the purpose of gaining complementary expertise outside the domain of their mentor's laboratory. Accepted trainees will be awarded a 2-year NIH-supported fellowship and a limited budget to offset collaborative research and travel costs.
